Taking the step

Please know that taking the step to go to counselling is a big one which can make you feel nervous and unsure about the process, you are not alone in these feelings, many other clients feel this way too. The following information is here to give you an understanding about the basics so you can feel more at ease.

1.

What happen's in my first counselling session?

The first session is about telling the story of what led you to counselling, where you are at with your peri/menopause symptoms, mental health concerns and what you are hoping to achieve. It is very normal to be nervous in anticipation of the first session - please know that I will make you feel very comfortable and at ease. I will also go through your privacy and confidentiality rights and provide information about the counselling process, informed consent and general information such as making payments, cancellations and contact between sessions.

2.

What about confidentiality ?

I adhere to confidentiality practice's in line with ACA Codes of Ethics. Once you consent to the Counselling Services Agreement, everything you share will remain confidential and only be used to facilitate the counselling process.

There are however some exceptions where confidentiality may be broken, such as if required by law or if there’s a duty of care to you or others.
